About WDU

Western Delta University (popularly referred to as WDU) is the brainchild of a group of Urhobo Scholars under the aegis of Urhobo Advancement Foundation (UAF) who saw the need for a privately financed university in the wetlands of Delta State of Nigeria.

A license to establish the University was granted in May, 2007, and an aggressive infrastructural development permitted its take off in March, 2008 whereby the first batch of students were matriculated into 21 degree programmes encapsulated in two Colleges, vis: Natural and Applied Sciences and Social and Management Sciences in April 2008.

Western Delta University is situated off the busy Benin-Warri Expressway within 40 minutes from either of the two major cities. What Parent's Say About Us?

Central Location

I am studying Geology and Petroleum Studies. There are lots of resources and hands-on experience, particularly for science students. The university is very central and close to the Benin Airport.

Feels Like Home

When I first walked on to campus, it just felt like home. I knew straight away that this was the place for me and I would be happy here. I absolutely recommend WDU and I know you'd love it here too!

Culturally Alive

First year was fun, and busy. By second year, you are fully settled into the routine and on top of things. Third year was busier. Not only do we learn through books, the community is also very culturally alive.

Helpful Lecturers

I love the library, my lecturers are helpful and approachable. The university has the right amount of academic resources I need to see me through my course.
